2D and MPR comparison

Compare series in 2D or MPR and choose which navigation and display controls to synchronize.

Open CompareCtrl+D⌘D

2D · Open comparison

Select 2–4 series in the sidebar and choose 2D series comparison. Alternatively, right-click a series and choose 1–3 more. Two series appear side by side; three/four use a four-cell grid. Reopening the same combination activates its existing tab. Press ⌘D (macOS) or Ctrl+D (Windows): 2–4 selected series open directly, one opens the picker, and no selection uses the active viewport.

2D · Browsing and linking

Select a viewport and browse with the wheel, shared slider or slice controls. New comparisons synchronize display operations by default; if either side is MR, windowing and inversion start independently. Adjust each option under Viewport settings → Compare sync operations. Re-enabling an option uses the selected viewport as the source. With slice sync off, the slider controls only the selected viewport.

2D · Patient coordinates and relative progress

Choose the linking mode in Viewport settings. MR defaults to patient coordinates: parallel series in the same study and Frame of Reference link within coverage; the shared slider controls the active cell. Cross-plane reference lines and Alt-click point navigation are available. Unmatched spaces do not link. Relative progress maps different slice counts using the first multi-slice cell; equal progress does not imply the same anatomy. Neither mode performs registration.

2D · Measurements, saving and export

Measurements and annotations remain independent, with undo, redo and copy/paste. Current-view export uses the active cell; reports include results from all cells. Workspaces preserve every comparison series, display state, navigation mode and sync option.

MPR · Open six views

Select two reconstructable series in the sidebar and choose MPR series comparison from the context menu, or start from one series and select its partner. Both series must form regular volumes. The MPR Compare tab shows A above B, with Axial, Coronal and Sagittal columns.

MPR · Independent controls and paired enlargement

Click a plane to activate it; the right toolbar follows its group. Position, rotation, windowing, zoom and pan are independent between groups by default. The three planes within a group share their spatial position, and CT windowing is synchronized within that group. Double-click a plane to enlarge its corresponding pair side by side; double-click again to return to six views. The first Layout tool also selects these arrangements.

MPR · Position and rotation links

Enable Link position and Link rotation separately in Layout. Both are off by default. Position each group first; enabling a link does not jump or align the images. Subsequent displacement (in patient-coordinate millimetres) or rotation from either group is applied to the other, preserving their existing relative offset. Disable a link to resume independent control. This feature performs no automatic registration; linked motion does not establish anatomical correspondence.

MPR · Independent measurements and workspace recovery

Each plane owns its measurements and annotations, with undo, redo, copy and paste. Reports retain the source series for each result. Saving a workspace preserves both image references, plane positions and orientations, display states, measurements, annotations, active viewport, enlarged pair and link settings. Original images must remain accessible when restoring.

MPR · Persistent link status and display linking

Position, rotation, CT windowing and physical-scale controls stay visible above the comparison, even with the right toolbar collapsed. Highlighted buttons are on; hover to inspect their state or configure them in Layout. Window linking requires two CT series and adopts the active series WW / WL while preserving each inversion setting. Physical-scale linking matches millimetres on corresponding planes; zoom multipliers may differ. Matching persists across layout and window-size changes. All four options default to off and are saved with the workspace.

MPR · Outside the image range

Outside image range appears when the finite section or slab does not intersect this series volume. Detection uses geometry, so ordinary black image backgrounds do not trigger it. Move the crosshair or choose Return this series to centre. Recovery moves only that series and preserves the other position and all link settings.
